Hopewell is a participant focused charity based in Cheetham & Crumpsall works across North Manchester with people who are living with long-term health conditions including mental health resulting in loneliness and isolation exasperated by poverty, poor environment, & unemployment.
Our work is user-influenced & inspired by community driven changes. Its core services are run by & for local people ensuring equality which is evident in the diversity of our participants who determine & implement its activities.
What do we do?
Each week a diverse mix of participants use charity’s services that encourages social inclusion & wellbeing by bringing a range of services at the neighbourhood level engaging people in meaningful activities that areperson centred, culturally appropriate & language specific in social setting, sharing information & volunteering opportunities that reduces isolation, loneliness, increases empowerment, builds resilience & enablement that enhances positive, healthy & independent living of our communities. 120 + people engage in charity’s activities each week. Accessible to adults with focus on people from BAME communities

We see ourselves as open, welcoming, and easy to access. We speak the three most common local community languages of English, Urdu and Punjabi, and our Board of Trustees reflects the diversity of our local area and our beneficiaries.
We believe in people’s potential to find their own solutions, given the right opportunities, connections, resources, and respect.
Moving Forward
Potential new activities identified include:
- Befriending 1-2-1 communal places
- Culturally specific meal service and delivery
- Women’s skills development

Geographic focus
Our current base is Cheetham and Crumpsall in North Manchester, although many of our service users travel from neighbouring areas.
We believe our model of delivery can be replicated in other areas and we will deliver in collaboration with our partners by extending our work to cover:
- Harpurhey
- Ancoats
- the Broughton area of Salford
